Step by Step INSTRUCTIONS For
DMB Version 9

INTRODUCTION: When you open DMB and look at the menu bar you will see the transfer command which contains all the tools we need to run the GAPL.  We will be importing databases, playing our home games, and exporting game results which I will import onto the master copy of the league database, as explained below.

Terminology: The master disk I keep is called the master copy of the league DATABASE. I'll be sending out copies of the league database for each of our 4 PLAY CYCLES (CYCLES.)  Managers will play their games and export the results which I will import on to the master copy of the league database.  DMB will automatically compress and uncompress our league databases for us.

IMPORTANT NO ROSTER MOVES: -- As in past years, managers may NOT make any roster changes to the database no trades, no releasing players and no claiming players from the free agent pool. After each play cycle is completed, I will make all those changes on the master copy of the league database.  You may, however, farm and promote players in accordance with GAPL rules.

STEP 1

Before doing anything you must do this: From the DMB menu bar File> create new empty database [leave location as C:\DMB8] name of new date base GAPLXX

You only need to do this once at the beginning of the season.

STEP 2

Make sure GAPL00 is the active database (use file>change active database)

WARNING! Installing a DMB database overwrites any existing data in the active database. Make sure you have the right database as your active database before using this command.

Transfer>install league database

Click on paperclip, click on GAPLXX.zip, open it, I agree, save it to a disk, then

Save in:My documents. File name is GAPLXX, click save then it will say successfully imported.

STEP 3

Play your home games as scheduled. Remember to play your home game played on April 1, then go to your second home game by clicking April 2 on the calendar, etc. [Don't play a second game on the April 1 date unless there is a double header that day.]

STEP 4

Export the stats to send back to me using the Transfer> Export Statistics command.

This command first exports manager's profiles just select your own profile, not your opponents, and click next. Then the games you played will be highlighted, click next, and then a no transactions window opens, click finish. Finally a window appears that says save in: export and there is a space in enter a name for the transfer file. Enter your team's initials and play cycle for example, for my Chatham All-Stars I would enter CASMay or CASJune or CASSpringT, etc.

FYI, When this transfer file is sent back to me via e-mail, I will import the stats onto the master disk including your managers profile and the results of all your home games for that play cycle. I will use transfer> import statistics, finding the file by looking in import, Open it, replace your manager's profile, add your game results to the master copy of the league database and finish.
